All the information you need to reach our apartments in Bergamo Alta.

By Plane

From Milan-Bergamo Orio al Serio Airport (BGY)

The airport is located just 5 km from the center.

Bus (Airport Bus): Take Line 1 of the ATB company, which connects the airport directly to the station and the city center. To reach Città Alta (Upper Town), you can stay on the bus until the Funicular stop or continue to the 'Colle Aperto' terminus. The journey takes about 30 minutes.

By Car/Taxi: Travel time is about 15-20 minutes. Keep in mind that access to Città Alta is regulated by ZTL (Limited Traffic Zone) gates.

By Train

From Bergamo Station

Bergamo Station is frequently connected to Milan, Brescia, and Verona.

Bus: Just outside the station, take Line 1 (direction Città Alta). You can get off at the lower funicular station or continue to Porta Sant'Agostino or Colle Aperto.

On foot and Funicalar: Walk along Viale Papa Giovanni XXIII towards the center (about 10-15 minutes) until you reach the Lower Funicular.

By Bergamo Alta Funicular

An iconic and panoramic experience that has connected the lower and upper city since 1887.

  • Arrive at the Lower Station in Viale Vittorio Emanuele II, 64.
  • The trip takes a few minutes and will leave you at the Upper Station in Piazza Mercato delle Scarpe.

From the Funicular to the apartment: Once you exit the upper station, take Via Gombito and continue straight past Piazza Vecchia; the street becomes Via Bartolomeo Colleoni. Number 30 is about a 7-minute walk away.

By Car

From the Tollgate to the Parking

The journey from the A4 motorway tollgate (Bergamo exit) to the heart of Città Alta takes about 10-15 minutes, traffic permitting.

Towards Fara Parking (The nearest one)
  • After the tollgate, follow the signs for Bergamo Centro / Città Alta.
  • Take Via Autostrada and continue straight on Viale Papa Giovanni XXIII and Viale Vittorio Emanuele II.
  • Pass the funicular station and go up towards the walls through the tunnel or along the panoramic road.

The Città Alta Parking (Parcheggio Fara) is located in Via della Fara, 3a. It is a modern multi-story car park situated right next to the walls.

On foot from Fara Parking: Once parked, the apartment in Via Colleoni 30 can be reached with a pleasant walk of about 8-10 minutes. Go up towards Piazza Vecchia and take Via Colleoni.

Towards La Marianna (Colle Aperto access point)

If you prefer to arrive in the Colle Aperto area, follow the signs for the Venetian Walls (Mura Venete) and continue along the entire perimeter until the Sant'Alessandro/Punta del Parco area.

On foot from La Marianna: Starting from the historic La Marianna pastry shop in Largo Colle Aperto, the apartment is very close. Enter Città Alta through the Colle Aperto passage and walk along Via Colleoni towards Piazza Vecchia. Number 30 is reached in about 4-5 minutes on a flat road.

⚠️ ZTL Reminder: Access beyond the gates is allowed only for residents and authorized persons. The Fara Parking is strategically located to allow parking just before or at the main gates, but it is always good to check the activation times of the gates (usually active in the evening on weekdays and all day on holidays).

On Foot (Scalette and Historic Paths)

For those who love walking, there are historic paths offering breathtaking views:

The Scalette: From the lower funicular station (Viale Vittorio Emanuele II), you can take the Salita della Scaletta. It is a stepped path that climbs alongside the walls. Once you reach Porta San Giacomo (the monumental white gate), enter Città Alta and follow the signs for Piazza Vecchia and Via Colleoni. Estimated time is about 20 minutes uphill.
